Fishing pliers do four jobs: remove hooks, cut line, open split rings and crimp split shot or leader sleeves. What separates one pair from another is mostly the material, which decides weight and how it copes with saltwater, and the line cutters, which decide how cleanly it cuts braid. The six pairs below cover stainless steel, aluminum and titanium-jaw designs.
Every specification on this page comes from the manufacturer’s own product page, checked on 26 October 2026. We have not used these products ourselves, so the picks are based on published specifications only.
For what to look for in any pair, see our fishing pliers guide, plus hook removal tools and essential fishing tools.
How we chose these
- Materials stated for the body, jaws and cutters.
- Rated by the maker for freshwater and saltwater, or built from corrosion-resistant aluminum.
- Sheath and lanyard included, so the pliers stay on you, not on the lake bottom.

1. KastKing Cutthroat 7″ Stainless Steel Pliers: a simple stainless pair for the tackle box
KastKing makes the Cutthroat from 420 stainless steel with a Teflon coating and rates it for freshwater and saltwater. Its tungsten carbide cutters are side mounted so you can trim a tag end close to the knot, and the jaws have crimping slots for split shot or leader sleeves plus holes you can use to cinch a knot with the hook.
- Handle: textured rubber, spring-loaded jaws for one-hand use.
- Included: molded sheath with belt clip and a coiled lanyard.
Pros: carbide cutters close to the knot; sheath and lanyard; split ring or straight nose.
Cons: weight not published; all-steel build, no aluminum or titanium parts.
2. KastKing Paradox Pliers (7.5″ Angle Nose): for reaching deep hooks
The Paradox has an angled nose that KastKing says makes it easier to reach and remove hooks. It is forged from 420 stainless steel with a corrosion-resistant polymer coating. Besides crimping slots it has bait-tuning slots for bending the line tie on a hard bait so it swims straight, and a locking handle for storage in its molded sheath.
- Sizes on KastKing’s page: 7.5-inch angle nose split ring or straight, 9-inch angle nose straight, and an 11-inch pistol grip version.
- Included: molded sheath with belt clip; coiled lanyard with carabiner.
Pros: angled nose for deep hooks; bait-tuning slots; handle lock; longer sizes for toothy fish.
Cons: KastKing’s description does not mention line cutters; weight not published.
3. KastKing Gila 7.5″ Fishing Pliers with Scissor Line Cutters: for scissor-style line cutting
Instead of anvil cutters, the Gila has side-mounted scissor cutters made of titanium-coated chrome vanadium, which KastKing says cut mono, braid and fluorocarbon cleanly and close to knots. The body is aluminum with 420 stainless jaws, and a grooved rubber section behind the jaws lets you grip the tag end to cinch a knot tight.
- Split ring nose version has a small round section at the tip to help grab hooks (KastKing).
- Rated for freshwater and saltwater.
Pros: aluminum body; scissor cutters; knot-cinching grip.
Cons: KastKing’s description does not mention a sheath or lanyard; weight not published.
4. KastKing AlumaStream 7.5″ Aluminum Fishing Pliers: for bass anglers who rig wacky and Neko worms
The AlumaStream pliers use a 6061 anodized aluminum body, 17-4 stainless steel jaws and tungsten carbide cutters for mono, fluorocarbon and braid, with a knot cinch hole built in. They are sold alone or in a combo with KastKing’s 6-inch Wacky and Neko rig pliers for putting O-rings on soft plastic worms.
- Included: carabiner clip, lanyard and belt-clip sheath; KastKing says the sheath has a suction cup for boats and kayaks.
- Combo adds the rig pliers with hidden O-ring storage and a 10-pack of O-rings.
Pros: aluminum body with carbide cutters; sheath mounts on a boat or kayak; finesse combo option.
Cons: the rig-plier combo is only useful if you fish wacky or Neko rigs.
5. Piscifun III Aluminum Fishing Pliers: for replaceable cutters
Piscifun’s third-generation pliers pair an anodized aluminum body with titanium-coated stainless steel jaws and a split ring tip. The tungsten carbide cutters are replaceable, and an Allen key comes in the box for that. Piscifun says they cut braided line, heavy mono leader, fly line and backing.
- Included: pliers, coiled lanyard, nylon sheath with belt loop, Allen key.
- Spring-loaded for one-hand use.
Pros: replaceable cutters extend the life of the pliers; weight and size published; sheath and lanyard.
Cons: heavier than the titanium-jaw KastKing Ti-Forge.
6. KastKing Ti-Forge Titanium Dual-Tip Jaw Pliers: for the lightest pair here
The Ti-Forge pairs titanium-alloy jaws with a 6061 anodized aluminum body. KastKing lists it at 3.5 ounces and says that is roughly half the weight of comparable stainless pliers. The dual-tip jaw opens split rings, and an internal coil spring opens the handles while a manual thumb lock keeps them shut in a pocket or hatch.
- Size listed: length 7.6 in, width 3.5 in.
- Included: sheath and coiled lanyard.
Pros: lightest pair with a published weight; titanium jaws; thumb lock.
Cons: KastKing does not say what the cutter is made of.
